Yet again, Autosport International proved successful for Samco, in our 14th consequtive year at the show.  As well as an array of new developments on display, we officially launched of our New Silicone Hose Wipes, which were high in demand!  Also attracting visitors to our stand this year was a stunning Ford Focus RS Mk2, owned by Amber Performance.
 

In our 2nd consecutive year, we are again exhibiting at the Dealer Expo Show, held in the Indianapolis Convention Centre between 13th - 15th February.  This  trade only show is produced for the powersports industry and attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.  Teamed up with our Official UK Bike Dealer, RaceBikeBitz, Samco have taken a booth in a prime location where we will be displaying a selection of our performance silicone hoses for Sport, Off-Road & ATV models, for which we now have over 250 kits available.

As part of SamcoSports Sponsorship program, we were approached by Top Formula Student lineup, Team Bath Racing who were in need of various Universal Silicone hoses for their self-designed & built racing car. Having supported the team in previous years, this season was to be no different and we were pleased to continue as an official sponsor. 

Team Bath Racing are known as one of the top university racing teams internationally and this year have done exceptionally well.  Not only did they come in at 4^th position overall, beating over 90 other international teams, they returned from Silverstone last weekend with a hatrick, having retained the prestigious and highly-sought position of ‘Best UK Team’ for the 3rd consecutive year.  With this years season now over, concentration now lies on the 2010 competition where a new team of students will once again be competing for the title.

At SEMA 2008, SamcoSport presented its XtraFlex product in the renowned ‘New Product Showcase’.  For the first time in the show’s history, SEMA allowed buyers to scan the barcodes of products which were of interest to them, and then used this information to rate the products.  With more than 170 new products entered in the showcase last year, SamcoSport were very proud to make the top 10 in the “Best New Performance Racing Product category”.

Last month saw the release of the long awaited Fast & Furious sequel and the film once again includes an array of cars all boasting the world’s finest quality performance modifications, of which SamcoSport Hoses are one. 

In collaboration with Silhoses.com, one of our US Dealers, SamcoSport provided a very fast, and indeed furious, 2006 Subaru STi with a full set of hoses in preparation for it’s inclusion in the movie.  The white Impreza can be seen several times throughout the film along with a ’98 Skyline GTR 34, 1970 Dodge Charger & a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi to name just a few.

Check out the film and keep your eyes open for the STi, but with the car pushing over 400bhp you’ll have to be quick!

After our successful involvement in the 2008 Time Attack & EDC Series, SamcoSport has decided to continue the association for this year’s championship, as the Official Silicone Hose Sponsor.  2008 saw long-time customer Olly Clark, of Roger Clark Motorsport, take home the 1^st place trophy in his famous Impreza GC8, aka ‘The Gobstopper; independently sponsored by SamcoSport last year.

The first day of the 2008 SEMA Show proved a great success for SamcoSport, with great interest shown in both our high performance silicone hose products and our Blow-Off / Diverter Valve range.   With lots of new products on display presenting the array of colour options now available, 14 in total, and with the help of a new super-tuned Subaru STi on show, the SamcoSport Booth attracted lots of attention from vistors far and wide, all interested in finding out more about the top quality products available from the World Leader in Performance Silicone Hose.

Respected Subaru tuners, Roger Clark Motorsport (RCM) have taken the 'Pro' title in the 2008 Time Attack Championship. One of the toughest series in motor racing.

The Leicestershire based team have had a phenomenal season, dominating from the outset in their own highly developed 890 BHP Subaru Impreza 'Gobstopper', to take the crown in the last nail-biting round at Snetterton circuit by a clear 16 points. The car was prepared using a full complement of Samco hoses  that have proven to be faultless all season, despite the cars monumental power output and boost pressures.  

This latest result for driver Olly Clark, adds to another superb victory earlier in the year when the team won the 'Ten Of The Best' competition at Elvington Airfield in York. This multi-discipline competition aims to find the best all-round driver and car set-up from the cream of European tuners. No team in history has ever won both events back to back. These results are made even more impressive when you realise that RCM were one of the few Pro-class contenders that didn't field a professional racing driver. Most other teams drafted in a top name wheelman to ensure success.  

An amazing statistic from the team's efforts throughout the year was that at each of the six rounds the RCM car recorded the fastest straight line speed of all competitors, being measured by radar. At Snetterton, this equated to an impressive 177mph on the main straight, despite the car being geared 'short' for the circuits tighter turns.

The Roger Clark name will be familiar to motorsport fans of many generations as the undisputed hero of British rallying in the '60s and '70s. It's obvious to see that the family racing DNA is clearly evident in Roger's sons Olly and Matt who now manage and drive for the team.

On receiving his trophy, Olly was clearly elated. 'It's been an unbelievable year' He said. 'The team has worked so hard to get us here - and the car has been supremely reliable. I'd like to thank everybody at Samco who have helped us throughout the season. It's a testament to the product they it has survived a season of incredible abuse. The Samco kit is a genuine 'fit and forget' proposition for us'.

So what's next for the seemingly unstoppable outfit? 'We'll be unveiling something exciting next year, don't worry!' smiles Matt. 'But in the mean time, we'll be concentrating on our client's cars and looking after our road-car customers. Life in the workshop can finally get back to normal.'

Each year, SamcoSport raise money for a worthy charity and for 2008, top UK based Breast Cancer charity, Breakthrough was chosen.  All summer, SamcoSport have been selling Pink keyrings at various cars shows and events for £1.00 each with all proceeds going to Breakthrough.  Along with this and in conjunction with top magazine Fast Car, SamcoSport were offering a competition whereby 5 Girl Racers, chosen at random from entries received, would exclusively be the first in the world to get Pink SamcoSport hoses on their car. 

With the competition now closed and to coincide with the Breast Cancer National Awareness month of October, a massive response to the keyring campaign has urged SamcoSport to officially release Pink as a colour option.  Get your Pink SamcoSport Hoses from your nearest Official SamcoSport Distributor.

The total amount raised for Breakthrough has not yet been calculated as the selling of the keyrings continues this month, however keep checking this news section for the announcement of the total amount of money raised and donated to this very worthwhile cause.
